Postdocs in Complexity Global Conference: A Postdoc Tapestry, Weaving Global Collaboration

Workshop

All day

September 15, 2025 – September 18, 2025

This event is closed to the public.

The ‘2025 Postdocs in Complexity Global Conference’ will be held at the Santa Fe Institute on Sep 16th – 19th, 2025. It will bring together prestigious interdisciplinary researchers from around the world. Postdoctoral fellows based at SFI and James S. McDonnell Foundation fellows will be joined by complexity postdoctoral fellows from around the world.

The Postdocs in Complexity conferences foster an environment conducive to forging new research directions where scholars are given the opportunity to exchange cutting-edge insights, methodologies, and findings in the realm of complex systems. The annual meeting provides networking and collaborative opportunities for early career complexity science researchers. In collaboration with the Emergent Political Economies program, this conference will bring in participants from their recent Global Complexity School in Colombia. As a result, we hope to begin building the scaffolding for more cross-continental collaboration that will generate new, creative, and scholastically rigorous ideas that have relevance beyond academia.

Over the four-day conference, the agenda will focus on building collaborative relationships through discussions and brainstorming sessions during research jams and science talks. New postdoctoral researchers will have the opportunity to present their individual research ideas through flash talks, and participants will share knowledge and skills in small group tutorials. Additionally, sessions on science writing and public speaking, along with a field trip and social events, will complement the activities over the four days.

The Postdocs in Complexity conference is generously funded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation, the Emergent Political Economies grant provided by the Omidyar Network, as well as gifts from The McKinnon Family Foundation and the Darla Moore Foundation.
