Our collective ability to learn, adapt, and solve problems is more crucial than ever. At the same time, issues such as polarization and social fragmentation challenge the very foundations of collective learning. Advances in technology—from artificial intelligence (AI) to large-scale communication platforms—provide unprecedented opportunities to address these challenges. In this workshop, we hope to tackle the interplay of collective learning and new technologies. We will explore topics such as: how technological advances such as LLMs can support or undermine group decisions and conflict resolution; how they influence trust, shared norms, and knowledge transfer within and across communities; and how deliberation platforms can be scaled while maintaining resilience against bad-faith actors.
