Grants Financial Accountant

The Santa Fe Institute is the world’s leading research center for complex systems science.  It receives sponsored funding for its research projects the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, and private foundations.  Reporting to the Controller, the grants financial accountant supports two key functional areas in the Finance Department: accounting for federal and non-federal awards, reporting, and support day to day department operations.

Diversity and Complexity Fellow

SFI seeks a quantitative researcher interested in the promotion of diversity in complexity science to lead SFI’s new diversity research and outreach initiative. Areas of focus include rethinking political economy and the uses of complexity method and theory. The ideal candidate will be given considerable freedom to pursue the project objectives and will be given time and resources to learn and communicate about complexity science.

Manager, Office of the President

Reporting directly to the President, the manager provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. This person serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Office of the President. Additionally, they serve as a liaison to the Board of Trustees and senior management teams, and organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations.

While the manager’s primary function is to provide daily executive support for the President, that is not the only function of the role. They will serve as an interlocutor, a conversation partner, a sounding board. The person who fills this role must love ideas, have a history of supporting highly creative and often maverick projects and people, and have a genuine desire to think at the intersections of art/science, science/engineering, literature/film, education/society, etc. 

Archivist/Editor, Office of the President

Reporting directly to the President of SFI, the Archivist/Editor (AE) pursues mission critical research and writing efforts for the President. The AE is expected to be familiar with rigorous library, online, and data-centric research for the purposes of compiling data bases, documents, and grant proposals. In addition, has a track record of writing and editing reports and proposals.
