An interview with SFI President David Krakauer in The Santa Fe New Mexican asks what questions the Institute should be exploring as he steps into his presidency this week.

“It’s very rare to be handed an opportunity to break the rules, to experiment,” Krakauer tells The New Mexican. “There is nothing like the Santa Fe Institute, not even close.”

He takes the reins from retiring SFI President Jerry Sabloff, who has led SFI since 2009 and remains affiliated with the Institute as an external professor. Krakauer will become SFI’s seventh president; the first was George Cowan in 1984.
