For the tenth year running, the Santa Fe Institute has ranked among the world's top science and technology and interdisciplinary think tanks.

The 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, just released by the Think Tank & Civil Societies Program of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, places SFI #25 among the world's “Top Science and Technology Think Tanks,” #10 among U.S. think tanks. In the “Best Transdisciplinary Research Think Tanks” category, SFI again ranked #10 among U.S. Think Tanks and #25 globally.

Although SFI does not engage in matters of policy, per the standard definition of a think tank, the Institute is honored to be recognized for its transdisciplinary and scientific excellence.

"Making this list proves yet again how fundamental research and real-world applications are close neighbors in the world of complex phenomena," says SFI President David Krakauer. "We are delighted to be included."

Launched in 2006, the Global Think Tank Index Report is considered an authoritative source of information about the leading public policy research organizations around the world. According to the TTCSP, the ranking process for the index draws on the expertise of "over 1,796 peer institutions and experts from the print and electronic media, academia, public and private donor institutions, and governments around the world."
