Pod A Conference Room
Micro Working Group
All day
Our campus is closed to the public for this event.
Chess is a game that requires the execution of long-term plans (strategy) and short-term actions (tactics). Depending on the complexity of the position, and the opponent’s strength, a player might adopt risky or safe strategies and tactical motifs. In our working group we will study the theoretical underpinnings of risk assessment that players enact in a game, and how this is influenced by the complexity of a position and the strength of the opponents. We will be using an open-source database of billions of games to select players of different strengths and rating differences.
